Summer is just around the corner and you know what that means! Refrigerators across the country are plastered with
color-coded schedules of kids' sporting events, family activities and warm-weather outings with relatives and
friends. It’s a tried-and-true way of making sure important to-dos and want-to-dos are planned and accounted for –
including opportunities to make a difference.
The summer months can fill up fast, but a little preplanning and a dash of creative thinking can go a long way when it comes
to giving back. For example, some families simply pencil-in a note on their calendar, like: "Plant an extra row in the
garden to share with neighbors." Others might block out time for an annual fun run or turn a Fourth of July BBQ into
an opportunity to collect canned goods for a local food pantry.
